The Victoria and Albert Museum’s newest exhibition boasts a Gucci sponsored showcase of masculine fashion, assessing the role of fashion throughout history in constructing and deconstructing our attitudes towards masculinity. With press barriers in situ to keep back the media, guests arrived into the Museum’s marble atrium. A suitably stylish crowd attended the dinner and private exhibition view, hosted over two nights. London’s drag superstar Bimini Bon Boulash engaged in conversation with Sam Smith while trainspotter Francis Bourgeois sipped a glass of Prosecco.
Throughout the event spaces, lighting elements emphasised the grandeur of this exhibition. Every detail of Gucci couture was highlighted under the incredible Chihuly Rotunda Chandelier. The Focus team were not deterred but the tight timeframe in which we had to deliver these amazing events.
Think Bowie, Prince or The Rolling Stones, who constantly challenge conventions of masculinity with their onstage personae. A central theme of the exhibition, musicians, was mirrored in the performances over the two nights. Attendees enjoyed Charles’ incredible vocal performance which was amplified around the event space. Mark Ronson then carried on the party, for the Exhibition Private View, taking centre stage for his set.
